John Boyne - The boy in the striped pyjamas

This one I mostly read while scorching on a hot Valencian beach; a good contrast with its chilly atmosphere. It's another one of those recent books that deal with sensitive über-smart young boys in a threatening context (perhaps providing readers with some youth nostalgia is enough for an instant bestseller?). This one is very readable, although nothing special. What was special was the surprising ending, after the predictability of the rest of the book. A nice holiday read.
