A little damaged at Linnaeus so I took it for L. and me to read. The book has enough narrative drive to make you want to read on, but doesn't reach the level of The remains of the day or Never let me go. His quiet melancholic atmosphere is there and his clear writing, only not the punch needed for short stories. I liked the shared theme of music and nightfall that makes it a coherent whole, but that's about it. Nothing much stuck in my memory.
